  As well as supporting teachers with explicit teaching, the Little Learners Love Literacy® Teacher Activity Resource books provide carefully constructed application and practice activities for each stage of the teaching sequence – for reading, spelling and handwriting. Each Teacher Activity Resource book breaks down the Little Learners Love Literacy® teaching sequence into weekly plans, which include unique instructional routines such as Let’s spell, Let’s write dictation, Ally talk and Super spelling for your whole class.
  
  Each TAR:
  -breaks down the content with weekly planning guidance
  
• - includes unique small group instruction resources such as Let’s spell, Let’s write, Sound and write.
  ​- includes phonemic fun activities for the whole class
  
• - provides opportunities for children to grow their vocabulary
  
• -provides opportunities for children to practise and apply knowledge with activities for independent reading and writing.

How do I use the Teacher Activity Resource?

The Teacher Activity Resource books provide simple lesson plans and activities to ensure your teaching of reading and spelling is effective and targeted from the very beginning. Use the Teacher Activity Resource books alongside the decodable books and Little Learners Love Literacy® practice games such as Sound Swap, Read and Grab and Read, Write and Draw.

Why has the Milo Teacher Resource been replaced?

Milo's Teacher Resource and Milo's activity book have been replaced by the new Teacher Activity Resource Stages 1-2 and Stages 3-4. These new TARs provide planning for teachers and additional resources to support explicit whole class instruction of the Little Learners Love Literacy Teaching Sequence.

Will the other Teacher Resource Books also be updated?

Yes! Teacher Activity Resource Book +456 will be replaced by brand new editions this year. Teacher Activity Resource Stages +4 and 5 will be released in July 2024 and Teacher Activity Resource Stage 6 will be released in August 2024.

Stage 7 TARs will also be updated this year. Stage 7.1 will include separate support for teachers in Foundation and Year 1, including additional activities for Year 1.

All 'new edition' TARs will include:
-Weekly plans
-Daily teaching notes
-New activities and resources including more handwriting practice, heart word teaching support and activities and more.
- LLLL Playbook.

Is there an offer to help schools replace and update their copies?

As with Stages 1-4, LLLL will reach out to customers from the past 3-4 years to offer them support to replace their TAR copies. Those who purchased a TAR two years prior to the new edition release will receive at least a free digital copy.

How often do Teacer Resource Books get updated?

It's an exciting time in education -research and evidence is growing and so is our knowledge of what works best in the classroom. Curricula are also updated every few years and LLLL will always aim to keep up to date for schools using the program.

Milo's Teacher Resource was first published in 2009, so it was due a re-fresh! We hope you find the planning, scripting and additional resources useful and supportive.
