How are reading and spelling linked?

Reading is an easier skill than spelling, however, they are connected skills and should be taught together. They are flip sides of the same coin. Children need to be phonemically aware and to know the alphabetic code for both reading and spelling. Reading needs decoding and spelling needs encoding, segmenting words into their sounds.

The Little Learners Love Literacy approach teaches reading and spelling together. A modified version of SoundCheck has been included and called Let's Spell.
